Calico Rock, AR–CHARLES ROWLAND GRIBBLE, 72, son of the late Rowland Columbus and Adolphy Grace Park Gribble, was born Oct. 20, 1929 in Corinth, Miss. He died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001 at Calico Rock, Ark. He entered the U.S. Air Force when he was 17. He retired after serving 21 years, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. He went into real estate in Bellevue, Neb. Later he retired to Calico Rock where he was employed by Don Quixote's Calico Kitchen. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calico Rock, and was a Master Mason.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Gribble of Staten Island, N.Y., and John Gribble of Olathe, Kan.; one sister, Caroline Littlejohn; four brothers, Gene Gribble of Memphis, Robert Gribble of Hernando, Mich., Kirby Dexter of Saginaw, Mich., and Charles Overschmit of Cherokee Village; three grandchildren, Nicholas Gribble, Izabella Gribble, and Jonathan Gribble; close friends, Bob and Gloria Gushue of Pineville; a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Services were Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Jess Sumrall officiating. Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Calico Rock.
