PORTIA -- Darrel Rider, 73, of Portia died Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Lynn, he was a farmer and a lifetime resident of Lawrence County. He was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge.
Survivors include his wife, Geraline Rider of the home; three sons, Craig Rider of Korea, Jeff Rider of Walnut Ridge and Dale Rider of Portia; one daughter, Teressa Anderson of Pocahontas; two brothers, Gene Rider of Tucson, Ariz., and Paul Rider of Walnut Ridge; seven grandchildren, Tracey Kinder of Hot Springs, Tara Anderson of Benton, Bobby Rider and Nicole Rider, both of Granite City, Ill., Samantha Rider of Korea, Robert Rider and Whitney Rider, both of Portia; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bernice Little Rider, and one brother.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Bryan Funeral Home chapel in Hoxie, with Carl Rider and Andy Pulford officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
