August 22, 1924 - June 19, 2019
Wyleen (Gray) Crider - born near Smithville, Arkansas on August 22, 1924 passed away on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019. She was the daughter of the late James Ivan and Cora Lee (Jones) Gray.
She attended grades 1-7 in a one room school, Anchor, near Smithville and grades 8-12 at Sloan-Hendrix Schools in Imboden. She graduated in May of 1943 as class Salutatorian.
She was employed in business departments in Memphis at Sears and Kroger Corporate Chain in the Advertising Department.
On May 20th, 1950, she married Dexter L. Crider of Smithville. After their marriage they relocated to Nashville, Tennessee for his work toward an MA Degree from George Peabody College.
Upon returning from Nashville to the Memphis/Crawfordsville, Arkansas area she was employed in the Advertising Department of Wholesale Grocers, Malone and Hyde.
Having lived in Strawberry, Pocahontas and Cave City, where her late husband was in School Administration they re-located to Hoxie where he was Superintendent and she was employed as the Bookkeeper/Treasurer of Hoxie School District. She retired on June 30th, 1986 after 21 years of service.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Jim (Jodi) Crider of Longview, Washington and Richard (Kathy) Crider of Maumelle, Arkansas. Three grandsons, Kyle Joseph Crider, Adam Colton Crider and Jay Louis Crider.
She is preceded in death by her husband, D.L. Crider, Sept 23, 1998, her brother Stanley Gray and her parents.
She was an active member of the United Methodist Church since early life.
Arrangements are being made by Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie, Arkansas. There will be a graveside service on July 2nd at 11:00 am at Lawrence Memorial Park, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Parkway Village Health Center and Baptist Hospice.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Baptist Hospice/Baptist Health Foundation at 9601 Baptist Health Drive Little Rock AR 72205.
