Dorthy Mae Russell Brand, 91, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on September 9, 2015 in Walnut Ridge, AR. Born May 10, 1924 in Powhatan, AR, she was the daughter of George Washington Russell and Mary Elizabeth Mashburn Russell.
She married Clarence Hubert Brand March 20, 1943. The couple was blessed with 10 children. Mrs. Brand spent her life as a farmer’s wife, homemaker, and devoted mother. She raised her children in the Assembly of God faith and upon her passing was a member of the People’s Faith Tabernacle in Hoxie, AR. She loved to garden, cook, quilt, read, play cards, and serve the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three brothers, Troy Eugene Russell, Albert Redman Russell, and James Harlen Russell; two sisters, Lola Bee McPike, Allie Marie Voyles, and one daughter- in-law, Bonnie Carol Brand.
She is survived by six sons, Daniel (Ruth Ann) Brand of Shirley, AR, James (Donna) Brand of Bay, AR, Bill (Linda) Brand of Jonesboro, AR, Ron (Cindy) Brand of Jonesboro, Jack (Helen) Brand of Imboden, AR, and Roger (Janet) Brand of Walnut Ridge, AR; four daughters, Mary (Michael) Nutt, of Jonesboro, AR, Judy (Ronnie) Gosha of Imboden, Carlene (Glendal) Floyd of Walnut Ridge, and Sandra (Steve) Knox of Osceola, AR; eleven granddaughters, Kathy, Sherry, Beverly, Becky, Tina, Misty, Jennifer, Rhonda, Stephanie, Vicki, and Kristie; nine grandsons, Danny, Jason, Ronnie, Brian, Anthony, Mark, Matthew, Kevin, and Josh serving as pallbearers. She is also survived by thirty four great grandchildren and one sister, Meredia Simpson of Portia, AR; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
