Obituary:
HOUSTON — Frances Baker Clanton, 83, of Houston, died Tuesday at Parkway Place Retirement Center. She was born July 28, 1922, at Hermitage, Ark., a daughter of the late Lucien Watts Baker and Maude Bartlett Baker. She graduated from Midwestern University at Wichita Falls, Texas, with a bachelor’s degree in business. She was a retired schoolteacher with 15 years of service in the Wichita Falls school system. She was a member of First Baptist Church at Wichita.
She was also preceded in death on July 13, 2000, by her husband, Thomas Ralph Clanton, whom she married on Feb. 12, 1945, at Hot Springs; two brothers, Bailey Baker and Jack Baker; and three sisters, Marguerite Newton, Bobbie Massey and Nita McKnight. Survivors include one son, Dr. Thomas O. Clanton of Houston; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Frazer’s Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls.Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
