Obituary:
Thomas Ralph Clanton, 77, of Wichita Falls, Texas, formerly of Warren, Arkansas, died July 13, 2000, at Houston. He was born on July 19, 1922, at Ingalls, Arkansas, a son of the late Thomas Oscar Clanton and Effie Sledd Clanton.
After graduating from high school, he joined the Army Air Corps and went through flight school to become a sergeant pilot. He served during World War II as a pilot in the China-Burma-India Theatre and also served in the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force in 1961 as a 20-year veteran and command pilot with over 4,000 hours. His decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster and numerous campaign ribbons. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he was employed by the Civil Service. He retired in 1984 after serving 22 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church at Wichita Falls, and a member of the Retired Officers Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and the Army Air Corps Enlisted Pilots Association.
Survivors include his wife; a son; a brother; three sisters; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday at Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery at Ingalls.
