Kathryn Vorster 14 Apr 1956-21 Feb 2004
Kathryn Jane "Katy" Vorster, 47, of Conway (formerly of Subiaco) died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 in Subiaco.
She received her education from the University of Central Arkansas with her Bachelor and Master's Degree in Nursing and was licensed to practice in Arkansas and Jamaica. She was Vice President of the Arkansas State Nurses Association and past President of her district Nurses Association. She was presently employed by the Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System, Little Rock, as the ADP Coordinator for the Nursing Services. She was a pioneer in the use of computers in nursing practice and a frequent lecturer on computerization and nursing practice at the local and national level. She was an active member of the Sylvan Hills Medical Mission Team providing medical care to third world countries and made five International trips working as a nurse, member of the Russian nurse exchange and a former faculty member of St. Francis University, Joliet, Ill. She also, was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, of Conway and Catholic Knights of America. She was preceded in death by her father, William A. Vorster and brother, Ben Vorster. Rosary was at 7:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Mass was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 in St. Benedict Catholic Church with burial in St. Benedict Cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by mother and stepfather, Tommy Vorster Furstenberg and Adrian Furstenberg of Subiaco; two sisters, Debbie Vorster of Subiaco, and Joan Stone of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Peter Vorster of Dardanelle and David "Petie" Vorster of Subiaco.
Pallbearers were Patrick Schluterman, Sam Schluterman, Sam Forst, John Willems, Joe Haynes, Jimmy Haynes, Jeff Vorster, and Harold Vorster.
