Upon her return to Arkansas, Hilda continued her career as director of nursing at Oak Manor Nursing Home in Booneville. Hilda came full circle as one of the original staff members at Paris? newly opened North Logan Mercy Hospital in 1979. She considered this a career highlight, as she was able to administer to the needs of her hometown. She continued her service at NLMH until her semi-retirement. Hilda was an avid gardener, wildflower and butterfly enthusiast, photographer, painter and quilter. Each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gratefully embraces the beautiful quilts, photographs and artwork created for them over many years. Hilda was instrumental in establishing the Mount Magazine International Butterfly Festival and lovingly cared for St. Benedict?s hillside garden. Hilda attended many in our community as they passed from this life to eternal salvation. May they reach down and welcome her as she joins them in happiness.
