Mary Louise Smith, daughter of William and Mary Smith, was born in Bledsoe county, Tennessee Dec. 6, 1848. When eleven months old her parents came to Benton county, Arkansas where she resided until her death August 25, 1910. She was converted in 1866 and united with the Methodist Church and lived a consistent christian till the end of her life. In January 1867 she was married to John A. Fields. To them were born three children: Esq. C.L. Fields of Centerton, Mrs. Bart Pierce of Osage Mills and Mrs. James Rogers of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Her last sickness was long and painful but was borne with christian fortitude and patience. Funeral services were held by her pastor, Rev. J.H Ruble, assisted by Rev. R.E.L. Bearden, after which her body was lain in the cemetery at Centerton. She was a true and faithful wife. For over forty-three years she bravely fought the battle of life by the side of him to whom in early womanhood she had given her love and now so sadly misses her presence. To him and the children the synpathy of many friends is extended. J.A. Fair
