CHEROKEE VILLAGE - Darrell Thomas Verkler died Friday, April 23, at his residence at the age of 66.
He was born July 17, 1943, to Wave Ed Jr. and Imogene Burrus Verkler in Black Rock.
He had lived most of his life in Black Rock before moving to Cherokee Village in 2001. He was the owner of Verkler Trucking Co. at Black Rock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wave Ed Jr. and Imogene Burrus Verkler, and sister, Mary Verkler.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Stratton Verkler of Cherokee Village; daughter, Gina Preston and husband David of Frisco, Texas; son, Mitch Verkler and wife Keri of Black Rock; brothers, Robert E. Verkler of Branson, Mo., Harold Verkler of Gentry, Wave Ed “Eddie" Verkler III and Charles Verkler, both of Black Rock; sisters, Greta Mondy and Sandra McGinnis, both of Black Rock; and five grandchildren, Dallas, Noah and Isabella Preston, and Ryan and Amber Caldwell.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge with Don House, Steve Prestidge and Steve Summers officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Forest Cemetery at Black Rock.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Cremation chosen as the final disposition of his body.
