Born March 12, 1847.
Died March 15, 1878, Arkansas.
wife of John R. Karns.
Julia Karns was originally interred in the Lankford Cemetery, but her remains were moved to this cemetery prior to the impounding of Lake Norfork.
Julia Karns died in 1878, and her husband remarried before the 1880 census. He and his second wife Rhoda Karns are buried in the Romine Cemetery, Fulton County, Arkansas. according to listings in the Fulton County Cemetery Book. For some reason, Julia Karns is also listed in that cemetery. Why Julia Karns is listed in the Fulton County Cemetery Book as being buried in the Romine Cemetry, and her gravestone is in the Custer-Herron Cemetery, near the Fulton County line is a mystery. The Corps of Engineer grave re-location records of graves that were moved from cemeteries that would be inundated by Lake Norfork shows that her remains were moved to the New Herron Cemetery (now known as the Custer-Herron Cemetery).
