A Funeral Service for LeRoy Valentine Jones of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Thursday, October 15, 2015, at the Church of Christ, with Brother Ken Burton officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
LeRoy passed away October 8, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 95. He was born January 25, 1920, in Tuscumbia, Missouri, the son of William and Nellie Bilyea Jones. He married Rita Buentgen Chenault on March 12, 1954, at Alton, Illinois and worked in real estate in Northern Arkansas for 40 years. LeRoy lived in Arkansas since 1971, moving from Belleville, Illinois. He loved the outdoors and taught his family to appreciate the natural things in life like hunting mushrooms, gathering wild grapes, watercress and sassafras root. His music every week at the Van Matre Senior Center was his favorite Friday night activity. LeRoy never met a stranger.
LeRoy is survived by his son, Kent Jones of Mountain Home, AR; three daughters, Brenda (Jim) Kraft of Overland Park, KS, Sue Brown of Festus, MO and Diane Light of Sun City, AZ; three step-sons, Dennis (Donna) Chenault of Sarasota, FL, Richard (Moey) Chenault of Belleville, IL and Michael (Jane) Chenault of Millstadt, IL; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; several wives; brother, Paul Jones and two sisters, Dorcas West and Lois Thompson.
Burial will be in the Custer-Herron Cemetery, Henderson, AR.
Memorials may be made to the Paragould Children's Home at 5515 Walcott Road, Paragould, AR. 72450.
