MAJOR US Army
7 Regiment Arkansas Territorial Militia
May 12, 1786--January 1, 1863
Note: Following his service in the 7th Regiment, Arkansas Territorial Militia, Major Jacob Wolf was known as Major Wolf for the rest of his life.
Born Rowan County, North Carolina.
Died Izard County, Arkansas.
Married (1) Mrs. Maldred Meredith, March 9, 1809, Hopkins County, Kentucky.
Married (2) Mrs. Elizabeth Lantz Sanders, January 8, 1824, Batesville, Independence County, Arkansas.
Married (3) Mrs. Cynthia Hardin Shipp.
(It is unclear if Meredith Was Maldred Wolf's maiden name or her surname from a previous marriage. It has been stated a number of times in various articles that Major Jacob Wolf married three widows. Some researchers have theorized that her maiden name was Cassinger, but no real proof has been found that her maiden name was or was not Cassinger.}
On the tablet marker, Major Jacob Wolf is the eleventh name on the Post Civil War listing of burials in the Wolf Cemetery. It shows that his grave is unmarked.
