Earlis Lawson, 75, of Route 1, Box 179, Wesley, Ark., died July 14, 1997, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 19, 1921, at Drakes Creek, the son of Peter and Lue Hull Lawson. He was a retired service manager for Otasco of Arkansas, a Baptist and a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army where he served in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and five bronze campaign stars and was commended by President Roosevelt for his work in radio security during the war. He was a member of Hayes-Smith Post #137, American Legion and Post #10,021, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Huntsville.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Adele Ledbetter Lawson of the home; two sons, Alex Lawson of Senatobia, Miss., and George Lawson of Paron, Ark.; two daughters, Mrs. Sandra Joblin of Senatobia, Miss., and Mrs. Susan Coll of San Antonio, Tex.; two brothers, Arlie Lawson of Wichita, Kan., and Darie Lawson of Victorville, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Oma Bolinger of Huntsville and Mrs. Margie Andrews of Hindsville; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 17, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with the Rev. Alex Lawson officiating. Interment will be in the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Earl Jordan, Gleason Lawson, John Bolinger, Gary Bolinger, Larry Bolinger, and Jim Jarrett. Military honors will be by Post #10,021, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Huntsville.
