Benton Courier Obituary:
Dr. Gifford Hogue Bell of Benton died Monday, November 7, 1994. He was 80.
He retired after 50 years as a dentist and was a life member of the American Dental Association, a member of the Benton Lions Club, a World War II Army veteran and a charter member of First United Methodist Church of Benton.
Survivors are his wife, Esther Bell; two brothers, Dr. W. K. Bell of Jonesboro and Arthur Lee Morrow of Arizona; and three sisters, Sue Whiteside of Oklahoma, Mrs. Howard Steiner of Montana and Mrs. Geri Quattlebaum of Texas.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. today at Ashby Funeral Home with the Rev. John Dill officiating. Burial was to follow at New Rosemont Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Guy G. Bell, William K. Bell, Jr., Steve Whiteside, Eric F. Bryan, Dan B. Bell, Earl H. Bell, Gary Whiteside, and Carl Richards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saline County Library or First United Methodist Church.

Esther Bell, 96, of Benton, died March 3, 2010, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born February 14, 1914, in Sagerton, Texas, to the late William George Jander and Freida Burmeister Jander. She was the second of three daughters. Esther grew up on a farm near Enid, Oklahoma, where she attended high school and business college. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Benton.

She married Gifford H. Bell, DDS in 1937 and shortly moved to his hometown of Benton, Arkansas where he began his dental practice for many years. She was his office manager until he retired.

Esther was loved by all who knew her and will be missed. She loved to cook and play golf. She was a common sight in her neighborhood where she walked her pet poodle daily.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gifford H. Bell, DDS, sister, Elsie Jander.

Survivors, sister, Elizabeth Sunderland of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother in law and wife, Dr. William Bell and Yola of Jonesboro, several nephews and cousin, Marguerite Bryan of Benton.

Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2:00 p.m. Monday with Dr. George McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at New Rosemont Cemetery.
