Leffel Robert "Peck" Cox, son of the late Robert Kelt and Cora Octavia McGowan Cox, was born March 20, 1922, in Lee County. He died October 21, 1997 in Calico Rock. He was 75.

Mr. Cox was united in marriage to Zella Juanita Branscum July 1, 1946 in Optimus. To this union, four children were born. Mr. Cox spent most of his life as a self-employed mechanic and logger. He was inducted in the Army in 1942, and served four years attaining the rank of Technician 4th class.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three daughters, Marvel Wilbur of Lone Rock; Leaquita Richardson of Culp; and Patsy Moody of Rodney; one son, James R. Cox, Sr. of Norfork, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, four brothers, one son and one daughter.

Funeral services were held October 24, 1997 at the Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Doug Huskey officiating. Pallbearers were Junior Richardson, Robert Cox, Shane Richardson, Anthony Hurst, Samuel Hurst and Tommy Calahan. Honorary pallbearers were Leonard Cox, Jewel Dean Cox, Arlin Cox, Franky M. Cox Enich James Cox, Robert Harrison and Mike Harrison.
Interment was at Table Rock Cemetery at Culp under direction of the Eddie Howard Funeral Home of Calico Rock.
