*Obituary
Benton County Democrat
August 11, 1925

William Dottry Buttram was born on January 3, 1839 in Meigs county, Tenn., died July 29, 1925. He came to Arkansas when a young man and was married to Miss Josie Patterson in the prime of manhood. To this union was born seven children. Three have passed on to be with God. He was converted when a young man and united with the Methodist Church, to which he was faithful and true until the end came on July 29 at 12:45 o’clock. God saw fit to call his companion from this world to be with Him in heaven in the year 1896. A happy home circle was broken. Brother Buttram was again married to Miss Mattie Hileman in the year 1900. This was a happy union until death again came and called for Brother Buttram. The church has lost a faithful member. Uncle Dot, as he was known by that name, will be missed by everyone who knew him. He leaves a faithful wife and two sons and two daughters and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. The funeral service was cond ucted by the pastor, Willis Thomas Bone, assisted by Rev. J.E. Vinson of Texas and Rev. A.E. Carnahan, pastor of the Presbyterian Church of Pea Ridge. The funeral service was at the Buttram Chapel Church at 2:30 o’clock Friday afternoon, July 31. After a service that touched all those present he was laid to rest in the Buttram Chapel cemetery. Before a large congregation of friends and loved ones he passed away, but his influence for good will still be felt in the community. “Uncle Dot” was one of our oldest citizens, being 86 years, 6 months and 26 days old. His children surviving him are Mrs. Lee Pounds of Claridian, Texas; Mrs. Orvil Buttram of near Texarkana; Mrs. Tim Rice and John Buttram, both of Brightwater.
