Born in Tennessee, married Tempe in Tippah County, Mississippi. Enlisted April 1862 into 34th Mississippi Infantry, Co. G, CSA. Father of John William, George M., Sarah E., Lincoln Timothy, Mary Susan, Rebecca Jane, Elijah Monroe, Jr., Margaret, and Martha E. Homesteaded in Magness Township, Lonoke County, Arkansas 1882. Cemetery located on land on which he resided.
