*Obituary

Mrs. Octavia Layfield, 67, of Route 2, Mt. Home, died Monday at the Baxter General Hospital. A native of West Virginia, she had lived in Baxter County since 1940 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Home.
Born April 25, 1905, Mrs. Layfield was the daughter of John and Dora Wells Springer. She resided for a number of years in the Buford community and at the time of her death lived on the Old Arkana Road, southeast of here.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Henderson and Mrs. Mary Haney of Mt. Home, Mrs. Ethel Flick of Kansas City, KS, Mrs. Betty Smith of Wichita, KS and Mrs. Margaret Boughton of Topeka, KS; two brothers, Wray Springer of Philippi, WV, and Rex Springer of Baltimore, MD; four sisters, Mrs, Uneeta Jones of Geneva, OH, Mrs. Edith Means of Clarksburg, WV, Mrs. Ada Thompson of Philippi and Mrs. Nellie Haller of Moatsville, WV; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted yesterday at the McClure Chapel with Rev. Norman Carter, minister of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Buford, under the direction of the McClure Service.
Pallbearers were Joe Misic, Elmer Breytspraak, Odus Duggins, Truman Smith, Louis Knight and Ed Pinkston.
