John the son of Orland Achor and Eva (Worz) Achor. Louetta Mae (Lakey) the daughter of Henry Lakey and Margie (Morris) Lakey.


JOHN WORZ ACHOR, Esquire, age 78, a well-known attorney in Little Rock, Ark., and Naples, Fla., died suddenly June 3, 2004, while playing golf in Maumelle, Ark.

He was born April 10, 1926, in Milford, Ohio, to Orland Achor and Eva Worz Achor.

Mr. Achor served in the U.S.M.C. during WWII and was involved in the battle for Okinawa and other island campaigns.

He was united in marriage to Louetta Mae Lakey of Sedgwick, Ark.

Mr. Achor graduated from the University of Miami with a law degree and was a prosecuting attorney in Miami before entering private practice. In 1969 Mr. Achor moved to Highland, Ark., where he headed the Cross Creek real estate development venture. He resumed his law practice in Little Rock in 1972 as a Public Defender before again entering private practice in Little Rock, Ark., and Naples, Fla. Achor was a member of Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Little Rock. For many years he was a volunteer coach for both American Legion and Pony League baseball. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports, specially when his children or grandchildren were involved.

Achor is survived by his wife, Louetta Mae Achor, and his children; Roger A. Achor, Hot Springs; Sarah Speer, Bryant; John Achor, Jr., Maumelle; Phillip Boothe, Bismarck; Amy Gardner, Dover, Del.; Steve Achor, New Orleans; Earl Achor, East Lyme, Conn.; a brother, Robert Achor, Naples, Fla.; and a sister, Ruth McCormack, Denver. He is further survived by 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were under the direction of Bryan Funeral Home, Hoxie,Ark. Graveside services were held in the Old Military Cemetery near Sedgwick, Ark.

Louetta Mae Achor, 75, of Hot Springs, died Feb. 11, 2010, at her home.

Born July 9, 1934, in Sedgwick, she was the daughter of Henry and Margie Morris Lakey. She was a retired nurse.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Achor.

Survivors include five sons, Roger Achor, Hot Springs, John W. Achor Jr., Maumelle, Steve Achor, Shreveport, La., Earl Achor, East Lyme, Conn., and Phillip Boothe, Bismarck; two daughters, Sarah Speer, Bryant, and Amy Achor Gardner, Altus, Okla.; three sisters, Dixie Rice, Lake Charles, Arlene Lawson, Walnut Ridge, and Sue Taylor, Trumann; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Monday at 11 a.m. at Old Military Cemetery with Bro. Marion Stringer officiating. Bryan Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Roger Achor, John W. Achor Jr., Steve Achor, Earl Achor, Phillip Boothe and Jeffry Rice.
