A funeral for James E. Riggs, Sr. of Mt. Home will be 2PM Thursday at Harmony Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor William Tunstal officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8PM today at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home. Mr. Riggs died Monday, May 17, 2004, at his home. He was 74.
He was born Jan 3, 1930, at Walnut Ridge to James and Lily Hamilton Riggs. He married Grace Little April 4, 1948, at Benton and resided in the Mt. Home area since moving from Jacksonville, in 1971. He was a former engineer for Entergy and a member of Masonic Lodge and Harmon Freewill Baptist Church. He liked to watch baseball and was an avid horseshoe pitcher and outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; two sons, James A. Riggs, Jr. and David J. (Lisa) Riggs, all of Mt. Home; two daughters, Pam (Clifford) Flock of Mt. Home and Theresa (John) Fenner of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Joe Riggs of Ward and Pastor John Riggs of Heavener, OK; 11 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with Bob Kingsolver, Jim Gannon, Marlin Johnson, Don Shipley, Dale Whiting and Darren Morris as pallbearers, Honorary pallbearers will be James D. Riggs, Michael Riggs, Noah Riggs, Nathan Riggs, Daniel Flock and Scott Riggs.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or Harmon Freewill Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home.
