Dubois Gilbert AIKMAN

Bluffton Cemetery
Yell County,
Arkansas

April 1, 1823 - January 3, 1861

Dubois Gilbert Aikman was born April 1, 1823 in Missouri and died January 3, 1861 near Bluffton, Yell Co., Arkansas. He was the son of William E. and Jane (Montgomery) Aikman and had siblings Maria A., Lucinda, Emily and Sarah. He married Cora Zipporah Blagg before 1848 in Yell Co., Arkansas and they had children Michael Edward, Benjamin Franklin, William Devoid, Nancy Jane and George Hadrick Aikman. The pictured monument was erected by descendants in 2007 next to his wife, Zipporah. He is believed to have been buried on a hilltop behind the home of Benjamin Franklin Blagg, the grave marked by a large native stone. This site was chosen because of difficulty getting to the cemetery due to flooding. The stone was removed and the area plowed by a later owner of the property.
