Mrs. Sarah Myrtle (Myrt) Pitchford, 87, a lifetime resident of Baxter County and the widow of Charlie Pitchford, died Tuesday at Chastain's Nursing Home in Mt. Home.
Mrs. Pitchford was a member of the East Side Baptist Church, where her funeral will be held at 10AM today (Thursday).
The present pastor, Rev. Jack Kwok, and former pastor Rev. O.I. Ford will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Buford, under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home. Visitation was to be from 2 to 9PM Wednesday at the Roller Chapel.
The daughter of the late Arlet and Rose Lee Herron Ellis, Mrs. Pitchford was born June 26, 1891, at Salesville. She was married here in 1927 to her late husband and the couple resided in the Buford community for a number of years before his death in 1962.
Surviving are a son, Charles Ellis and a daughter, Rosetta Grissum, both of Mt. Home; a brother, Claude Ellis of Oil Trough; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Jenkins of Keyes, CA and Mrs. May Wilson of Old Joe; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers for today's service will be Berman Anderson, Lois Knight, Clyde Dunham, Isaac Marler, Allen Morrow and Kenneth Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Britz, Alvin Hedman, C.M. Fenter, Elmo Stone and Bob Miller.
