Ben Franklin Gordon, 73, of Mt. Home, a retired railroader and veteran of World War I, died Saturday, October 23, at his residence at 606 East 8th Street.
Funeral services were held at 2PM, Monday at the First Christian Church with Rev. W. Harold Willard, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery at Buford, under the direction of the McClure Service. Masonic Rites were conducted at the graveside by members of the Mt. Home Masonic Lodge. Pallbearers were Boyce Drake, Walter Wagner, H.L. Gilliland, Louis Knight, Don Cockrum and Clark Rawlings, all members of the Mt. Home American Legion Post.
Mr. Gordon was born May 22, 1892, at Shenandoah, Iowa, the son of the late U.S. Gordon and Rebeccah Mace Gordon. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Mason. A resident of Baxter County for the past 18 years, Mr. Gordon owned and operated a farm in the Buford community for several years before moving to Mt. Home. He served with the US Army during World War I.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Luverda Gordan of Mt. Home; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Nahas of Fayetteville, and three sister, Mrs. Eva McVey and Mrs. Ethel Vore, both Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Mrs. Pearl Nelson of Omaha, NE.
