Shooting Death Ruled Accident

BENTONVILLE—The shooting death of a Decatur woman last week has been ruled accidental and no criminal charges will be filed. Beulah Shook, 74, was killed at 11 a.m. Thursday in a corn patch near her home where her 73-year-old husband Lee was hunting.

Benton County Deputy Prosecutor David Clinger said an investigation by his office and the Sheriff's Department concluded that while her husband fired the 16-gauge shotgun pellets which killed Mrs. Shook, "all the evidence indicates that the shooting was accidental." An autopsy was performed by the state medical examiner's office as part of the investigation, Clinger said.
