Charles L. "Charlie" Daves, 74, of Joplin, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 3, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin.

He was born March 30, 1918, at Fort Smith to Charles Lewis Daves and Theresa Limberg Daves, former resident of Decatur and Rogers, he moved to Joplin four years ago. He served as mayor of Decatur and worked for 15 years as president of State Bank of Decatur. He worked in real estate and insurance in Rogers until his retirement in 1988. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the China-Burma-India and Asiatic-Pacific theaters. He was a member of the Earl J. Bruton Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 534, Joplin, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Joplin, and Senior Saints of St. Mary's.

Survivors are his wife, Hazel "Marge" Setser Daves; a daughter, Cindy Head of Joplin; two sisters, Jane Porta of Fort Smith and Mary Hauck of Peoria, Ill.; three grandsons; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, with the Rev. Tom Miller and Randy Gariss officiating. Visitation is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Graveside service are to be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Decatur Cemetery. JOPLIN, Mo.— Hazel Irene Daves, 86, of Joplin died Nov. 16, 2004. She was born July 5, 1918, in Decatur to John and Emma Setser. She moved to Joplin in 1988. She attended St. Mary's Catholic Church and later became a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Daves, on Nov. 3, 1992.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Head and husband Steve of Joplin; two sisters, Aileen Browning of Topeka, Kan., and Francis Morton of Little Rock; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Jay St. Clair will officiate. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Decatur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Lee, Matt Lee, Jonathan Lee and Bill Lee Sr.

Memorials may be made to St. John's Hospice.
