PICKENS, Anna LAWRENCE - Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist Church for Mrs. Anna Pickens who died at her home west of Decatur on April 12th, 1924. The pastor, Rev. John Scoggin, conducted the services. The church was completely filled with old friends and relatives of the departed one. Interment was made in the Decatur cemetery. Besides her husband, Thomas Pickens, she is survived by one brother, Tom Allen, of Phoenix, Arizona. Mrs. Pickens was the daughter of Col. and Mrs. C.L. Lawrence and was born in Madison county, N.C. in 1853. The family moved to Benton county about 40 years ago and settled about two miles west of where Decatur now stands. Her father was a colonel in the Confederate army during the Civil War and was also a judge of the circuit court in North Carolina.
