Gerald the son of Jack Oren Thacker and Grace (Tanner) Thacker. Marie the daughter of Roy and Nellie (Couch) Wombles.

Marie Thacker

Marie Thacker, 75, of Smithville, died Jan. 30, 2009, at St. Bernards in Jonesboro.

Born April 8, 1933, at Leatherwood, Ky., she was the daughter of Roy and Nellie Couch Wombles. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Thacker, whom she married Sept. 6, 1949, in Louisville, Ky.; a son, Johnny Lee Thacker; and two sisters, Carol Ann Turner and Alene Snoden.

Survivors include five sons, David Thacker, Ft. Worth, Texas, Danny Thacker, Walnut Ridge, Robert Thacker, Orlando, Fla., Roy Thacker, Keller, Texas, and Gerald Thacker, Smithville; a daughter, Sue King, Imboden; two brothers, Jessie Wombles and Jeromy Wombles, both of Palm Bay, Fla.; a sister, Betty Sue Plaster; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Townsend Cemetery at Smithville with Bro. Charles Morgan officiating. Burial was under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Service.

Pallbearers were Jeff Brooks, Danny Thacker, Roy Thacker, David Thacker, Robert Thacker and Gerald Thacker.
