HAMMER, Rasmus Michael - Rasmus Michael Hammer died Sunday July 20th at 12 o'clock. He was alone when death came. His niece had been in to see him on a matter of business a little while before and thought him as well as he had been for some time. He was sitting up when she went in but had laid down and apparently went to sleep never to awake. Uncle Michael, as he was familiarly called, was born in Suvig Bronholm, Denmark where he lived to manhood, coming to this country fifty-five years ago. He was a very skillful carpenter and cabinet maker in earlier life, having served a seven year apprenticeship in his home country. He worked at his trade when able up to the time of his death and had just finished a beautiful walnut rocker. Uncle Michael lived as pure a life as it is possible to live in this world and was loved by all who knew him. He was laid to rest in the Hebron cemetery to await the resurrection of the just. His family wish to thank the friends and neighbors for their kindness and help.
