Carl Virgil Melton of Calico Rock, son of the late Charley and Martha Longly Melton, was born August 8, 1911, in Chanute, Kansas, He died August 8, 1996, in Calico Rock. He was 85.
Mr. Melton was united in marriage to Elva Lorraine Miller August 6, 1938, in Broomfield, Colorado. He was a member of the American Legion and Protestant Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Doyle of Mayflower, and Sharon Carsrud of Fort Collins, Colorado; one son, Gerald Melton of Salesville; and one sister Lillie Fuller of Bremerton, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister and five brothers.
Services were held August 12, 1996, at the Howard Chapel in Calico Rock with Reverend Charles Baskin and Reverend Greg Poland officiating.
Pallbearers wer Troyce May, Dean Hoke, Phillip Doyle, Hoot Rush and Carl Stapleton.
Interment was at the Galatia Cemetery near Old Joe under the direction of Howard Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
Memorials may be sent to the family.
