March 6, 1928 - January 16, 2005
WYNNE -- Bryant E. "Gene" Durham, 76, of Wynne died Sunday, Jan. 16, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.
He was a member of Union Avenue Baptist Church and a veteran, serving in the Arkansas National Guard, the Navy, and the Air Force. He earned a number of citations during his military service, including a Bronze Star, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and two Department of the Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Walker Durham; a brother, Milton Ray Durham of Earle; and four sisters, Betty Love of Conway, Patricia Chrisco of Wynne, Mary Janelle Haire of Forrest City and Brenda Sue Cullum of Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Clarence Durham and Johnnie Lawrence Durham; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Union Avenue Baptist Church in Wynne, with the Rev. Gary Akers, the Rev. Hillmon Davis and the Rev. Ray Dean Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Cogbill Cemetery at Wynne. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the church.
