Sgt. Harrison was a member of the 3rd Engineer Combat Battalion 24th Infantry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Taejon, South Korea, on July 20, 1950. He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953. Sergeant Harrison was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
