Patrick Eugene Thompson, Sr., son of the late Roger and Caroline Thompson, was born April 3, 1923, in Souix City, Iowa. He departed this life Tuesday March 7, 2006, in Mt. Home at age 82 years, 11 months and 4 days.
Patrick was united in marriage to Mary Beatrice Mayfield Nov 26, 1946. To this union two sons were born. Patrick served in World War II and was a 23 year veteran of the US Army. He also served as Mayor of Calico Rock from 1971-1974. He retired from Baxter Lab after 17 years. Patrick was of the Catholic faith. Patrick leaves to mourn his passing two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick E. and Cora Thompson, Jr. of Calico Rock and Michael and Vicki Thompson of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Lois Lee of Texas; eight grandchildren and spouses, Patrick E. and Kristie Thompson III, Tonya and Winston Wilcox, Stephanie and Kelly Cannon, and Mandi Thompson, all of Calico Rock, Feather and Clint Young of Norfork and Elizabeth and Angel Reyes and John and Seth Thompson, all of New Mexico; 11 great grandchildren, Lea Killian, Tiffany Young, Dylan Woody, Evan Thompson, Creed Young, Madilin Lynn, Clayton Thompson, Memphis Young, Hattie Lynn, Walker Cannon and Cailin Young; three brothers-in-law and spouses, Henderson and Sue Mayfield, Jr., Robert and Marie Mayfield and Bruce and Jennnette Mayfield; two brothers-in-law, Kieth Rash and Gordon Lebowich; three sisters-in-law, Belle Thompson, Kaye Thompson and Ruthie Lebowich; and an aunt, Geneva Knipp.
Patrick was preceded in death by his wife of 57 yeas; his parents; eight brothers and one sister, Howard, Robert Francis, Alford, Donald, William, James, George, and Margaret; one sister-in-law, Neva Jean Mayfield Rash; one brother-in-law, Charles Edward 'Sonny' Mayfield; one granddaughter, Ami Thompson; two nephews, Charlie and John Mayfield; and one infant daughter.
Visitation was 6PM Friday.
A funeral will be 2PM today at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Gale Wooten officiating.
Burial will be at Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home of Melbourne. Pallbearers will be Patrick E. Thompson III, Greg Mayfield, Kelly Cannon, Winston Wilcox, Clint Young and Noel Loosey. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Marchant, Kirk Turner, Chris Eck, Eldon Neel, Earl Killian and Jerald Wyatt.
