February 18, 1960
A bulldozer operator working on a clearing project near Lakeview was killed Saturday when a fallen tree he was pushing slipped over the machine and crushed him against the seat.
Victim of the accident was Louis (sic) King, 29, of Mt. Home.
Sheriff Jack Gregory, who conducted an investigation, said that the accident probably occurred about 10AM but was not discovered until about 1PM by Bob Jones, son of the caretaker at Bull Shoals State Park.
Jones said the machine was still running.
King, who lived on Highwasy 62 East of Mt. Home, was born in Calico Rock August 19, 1930. He was married in 1949 to Arlein King. He was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Survivors include his wife, three sons, Johnnie, David and Robert of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hamp King of Norfork; two brothers, Howard and Billy of Mt. Home; five sisters, Mrs. Sue Warner of Kansas City, Mrs. Esther Hardin of Kansas City and Lois, June and Betty of the home.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Galatia with Rev. Wayne Davis officiating. Burial was in Galatia Cemetery with Roller Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Dale Clark, Joe Lawless, Elmo Hust, Gill Osborn, Ed Pinkston and Vero Hall.
