Robert Daniel Evans, 34 years old, 2561 Cissna Street, Kansas City, Kansas, was fatally injured by a motor car last night while walking along the Levenworth Road at Fourty-third Street.
Norman D. York, Kansas highway patrolman, said Evans, dressed in dark clothing, was walking west on the right hand side of Levenworth Road when he was struck by a westbound car driven by Mrs. Eleanor E. Masters, 45, of 4950 Parkview Avenue, Wyandotte County. Another car had narrowly missed striking him only moments earlier.
Mrs. Masters said she did not see Evans until he was thrown on the hood of the car, which was going about 30 miles an hour. The death was the first in traffic this year in rural Wyandotte County.
Mr. Evans was born in Evansville, IN and lived in Wyandotte County three years. He was a construction worker. Surviving are a son, Daniel Evans, Detroit; his mother, Mrs. May Evans, Norfork, AR; three sisters, Miss Adrian Mae Evans, Caro, MI, Mrs. Mary Louise Cunningham of the home and Mrs. Wanda Havener, Norfork, AR and three brothers, Gerald Evans, with the Army in Germany; Allen Evans, Detroit and Oscar C.
