Lowell the son of George and Ada L (Goff) Roberts. Magdalene the daughter of Ephraim Isaac Norman and Nettie Ann (Doyle) Norman.

Lowell T. Roberts, 79, of Strawberry, died Wednesday at his residence. Born in Saffell, he was a farmer and a member of the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at Strawberry for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Magdalene Norman Roberts of the home; one daughter, Sandra Duncan of Strawberry; one brother, Earnest Roberts of Jesup; four sisters, Ava Ward of St. Paula, Calif., Ruth L. Harp of Hoxie, Rhudene Melton of Strawberry and Pauline Dyess of Batesville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10 Friday morning at Qualls Funeral Home chapel in Cave City, with Harold Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward Cemetery at Strawberry.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Magdalene Roberts

Magdalene Roberts, 88, of Strawberry, died June 18, 2009, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born April 4, 1921, at Strawberry, she was the daughter of Ephriam and Nettie Ann Doyle Norman. She taught school at the one-room school at Rosebud, near Cord, for 14 years and was a substitute teacher at Strawberry School for many years. She was a homemaker and was an active member of the Jerusalem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at Strawberry for 72 years, where she served as church clerk for 32 years and Sunday school teacher for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Lowell Roberts; six brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Duncan, Strawberry; a brother, Hardaway Norman, Fenton, Mich.; a sister, Alene Holland, Strawberry; three grandchildren, Susan Ferguson, Mary Belew and Jayme Tabor; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Jerusalem Landmark Missionary Baptist Church at Strawberry with Bros. Harold Boyd and Bobby Walker officiating. Burial was in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Darrell Birmingham, Scott Wright, Vince Wright, Keith Wright, Allen McDonald, and Elmer Rollins.
