John Curtis Southard, 81, of Route 2, Mt. Home, died Sunday at the Baxter General Hospital.
A farmer and a lifetime resident of Baxter County, Mr. Southard was married to the former Rena Reed, who preceded him in death. He was born at Norfork Sep 25, 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jobe Southard.
Survivors include two sons, Clyde Southard of Route 2, Mt. Home and Clifford Southard of Forest Grove, OR; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Harris of Mt. Home; a brother, Tom Southard of Mt. Home; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Murry of Jackson City, TN and Mrs. Ethel Barrett of VA; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Gamaliel Community Church with Rev. Paul Hill officiating. Interment was in the Galatia Cemetery under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Bob Perry, Jim Elumbaugh, Gene Alexander, Jerry Parnell, Lee Skidmore and Everet Parnell. Honorary pallbearers wer Hugh Tinnon, Ed Pinkston, Sylvester Waire and Hubert Watley.
