Ralph J. Parnell, 87, of Norfork, died Friday, (March 19, 1999) at Calico rock Health Care.
He was born April 23, 1911, in Norfork, the son of Lucy Dickerson and Earl Parnell. He married Dorothy Parnell July 31, 1983, in Norfork. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Galatia Christian Fellowship Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He loved gardening and hunting. He also was a member of the Norfork VFW.
He is survived by his wife of the home; three daughters, Delores Duggins and husband, Archie, of Gassville, Mable Greer Adams and husband John, of Cotter, Ellen Lawson and husband, Ernie, of Mounds, OK; a step daughter, Rosemary Bowen and husband, Robert of Newport, AR; two brothers, Gene Parnell and wife, Joan of Mt. Home, Tom Parnell and wife Ruedean of Calico Rock; two sisters, Virgie Cox and husband, Leonard of Mt. Home, and Hazel Cox and husband Vernon, of Mt. Home; 11 grandchildrean and 18 great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, is first wife, Margaret, one son, Jim one sister Lena and brothers, Ernie, Carl, Ray and Lynn.
Services were held Monday at the Galatia Christian Fellowship Chruch with the Rev. Ray Lamb officiating. Burial was in Galatia Cemetery. Military graveside services by the North Central Arkansas Veterans Council with Honor Guard by Alley-White American Legion Post No. 52.
Pallbearers wer nephews, Bruce Cox, Delman Parnell, Tyler Chapman, Dennis Chapman, Dale Chapman and Tommy Condrey.
Hornorary pallbearers were Elzora Lucy, Albert Dulaney and Gene Adams.
