JOPLIN, Mo. — Edward "Carl" Kelley Jr., 76, of Joplin died April 6, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was born April 5, 1933, in Cherokee City to Edward C. Kelley Sr. and Elizabeth Davis Kelley.

He was received his bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Fleming Foods for more than 37 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church and had attended Fellowship Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Stephen Kelley.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Yates, to when he was married June 5, 1997; a son, Michael Kelley and wife Klarissa of Rogers; three stepeons, Michael Griffith, of Atlanta, Marvin Griffith of Carthage, Mo., and Andy Griffith of Baxter Springs, Kan.; two sisters, Jana Dee Kelley of San Diego, Calif., and Dena Edmondson of Kansas, Okla.; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Jones officiating.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dickson Cemetery in Cherokee City.
