Alex Hamilton of Salesville died Saturday (Jan 11, 1997) at his residence. He was 82.
Mr. Hamilton was born May 17, 1914, at Norfork to Robert and Leona Hamilton. He married Olga Payton of July 14, 1935, at Mt. Home and worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1969, when he moved to Salesville from Pasadena, Texas.
He was a member of the Adams Masonic Lodge No. 164 of Norfork and the Eastern Star No. 588 of Calico Rock. He also attended the Norfork Church of Christ. Mr. Hamilton served on the Salesville City Council for eight years and worked for the water company in Salesville for 13 years. He enjoyed catfishing, hunting rabbits and gardening.
He is survived by one sister, Elsie Duncan of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Roger Stark and Lisa Gibbs, both of Pasadena, Texas; three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and seveal nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Constance Jean Stark, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be 9AM - 9PM today at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5-7PM. Services will be at 11AM Tuesday at the Norfork Church of Christ with Bro. David A. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Galatia Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Partney, Andy Partney, Marlin Partney, Bob Ripple, Dustin Foret and Vince Yurkowski. Honorary pallbeares will be Melvin Cutrell, Jimmy Roy Beard, Herbert Van Vatre, F.L. 'Lefty' Harvey, Vernon Cox and John Ed Isbel.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
