Ray 'Jack' Whitfield, 72, of Norfork died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
He was retired from Baxter County Road and Bridge, a veteran of the Korean War and a member of VFW post 7730 in Calico Rock. He was born in Norfork, Oct 17, 1929, to Allan and Hattie Whitfield. His hobbies included cooking, gardening, taking care of his animals, fishing and story-telling.
He is survived by his wife, Velma, of the home; his mother, Hattie Whitfield of Norfork; four children, Joe Whitfield and wife, Brenda, of Viola, Steve Whitfield of Norfork, Jackie Meis and husband, Everett, of Norfork, and Lisa Sanders and husband, Bruce, of Flippin; eight grandchildren, Christie and Jennifer Whitfield, Angela Grasse and husband, Joseph, Quincy Whitfield, Shad Meis, Brad Goeke and wife, Leslie, and Joshua and Melissa Sanders; three brothers, Roe Whitfield and wife Virgie, of Norfork, Levi Whitfield of Sartoga, WY and Dean Whitfield and wife, Cathy, of Brumley, MO; six sisters, Betty Scott of Laramie, WY, Oneida Stevens and husband, Odell, of Norfork, Helen Hathaway and husband, Dan, of Marion, IN, Wilma Huff and husband, George, of Norfork, Bobbie Sanders of Calico Rock, Norma Speaks and husband, Dennis, of New Cambria, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Whitfield and two sister, Patsy Reeves and Carolyn Whitfield.
Visitation will be from 5-8PM today for the public and from 6-9PM for family at Roller Funeral Home in Mt. Home.
Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at 10AM at the Galatia Cemetery in Norfork with Pastor Tom Stover officiating. Services will be under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Mt. Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be a host of friends.
