Thurl Whiteaker, 68, of Arkana community died Saturday (Feb 13, 1993) at Baxter County Regional Hospital.
Services are 2PM today at Norfork Baptist Church with the Rev. Vern Pickrell and the Rev. Glen Hicks officiating.
Visitation was Sunday from 9AM to 9PM at the Roller Funeral Home. The family received friends fro 6 to 8PM.
Burial will be at the Galatia Cemetery with Orbie Whieaker, Bobby Whiteaker, Jr., Don Teal, Ross Alexander, Louis Alexander and Gene Alexander serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Whiteaker was born Oct 25, 1924, at Iuka and was a lifetime area resident. He was an electriciian and plumber for the US Army Corps of Engineers and a member of the Arkana Baptist Church. He married the former Ilene B. Alexander on Aug 2, 1948 at Flippin. He served in the US Army during World War II and retired from teh Army National Guard with the rank of staff seargent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William C. and Ida Belle Snelgroves Whiteaker; and a brother Bob Whiteaker.
His is survived by his wife, Ilene of the home; two daughters, Treva Phillips of Flippin and Judy Sallee of Gassville; four sisters, Ruby Mahan, Wilma Talburt and Ruth Royston of Wichita, KS and Shirley Teal of Bella Vista; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Galatia Cemetery Fund.
