Martha Bruce Lackey
August 12, 1919 - August 17, 2004
Martha Bruce Lackey, 85, of Sidney, formerly of Strawberry, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2004 at the Sharp Nursing Home in Sidney. She was born August 12, 1919 in Moorefield and was the daughter of Clarence Wallace Bruce and Mabel Elizabeth Moore Bruce.
She was a retired beautician and a member of the Eli Lindsey United Methodist Church in Jesup where she played the piano and organ for many years. She enjoyed quilting, studying geneology and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by four brothers, Wallace Bruce of Seaside, California, Calvin Bruce of Fort Myers, Florida, Harold Bruce of Powhatan, and Ernest Bruce of Cave City; and one sister, Alice Foley of Powhatan. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jon Patterson of Cave City and Susan Patterson-McBride of Lexington, South Carolina. Her six great-grandsons, Jaret Patterson, Jacob Patterson, Joseph Patterson and Jace Patterson all of Cave City, Dayton McCarty of Batesville, and Chase McBride of Lexington, South Carolina also survive her. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alpheus Lackey; her son Joe Frank Patterson; a grandson, Joe Alan Patters; a brother, Robert Bruce; and a sister, Bertha Gill.
Pallbearers will be Jon Patterson, Michael Bruce, Bruce Gill, David Foley, Mark Hower and Alvin Wortman.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2004 at the Eli Lindsey United Methodist Church in Jesup.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2004
Burial will be in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry. Memorials may be made to the Eli Lindsey United Methodist Church in Jesup. (870) 283-6602.
