Henry Clay Ballard, 76, of Batesville died Thursday, June 9, 2005, in a Little Rock hospital.

Born Aug. 15, 1928, in northeast Arkansas, he was the son of John Henry Ballard and Mintie Sue Jones Ballard. He was retired from ConAgra and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two sons, Dan Ballard of Lawrence, Kan., and Donald Ballard of Cave City; three daughters, Leila Shrum of Cave City, Sharon Watson of Strawberry and Viola Wright of Nebraska; a brother, Jay Ballard of Hot Springs; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Burgia Ballard; a daughter, Barbara Watson; a grandson, Donnie Watson; and two brothers, Forrest Ballard and Jack Ballard.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Roller-Crouch-McGee Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bobby Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery at Strawberry.

Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday.
