James was the husband of Susan H. Wayland and they were the parents of 13 children, all single births. They lived Iuka, Izard County until about 1893 when they move to Amos, Baxter County. The McNeil family traces it's roots back to Scotland. The original ancestor, James I, came to America in the early 1800's. The McNeil and Wayland families still have lots of descendants in the area.
