GALBREAITH, Franklin Pierce - Franklin Pierce Galbreaith, age ten years, nine months and eleven days, died on Tuesday, March 20th, 1901 at 7:30 a.m. Dear little Frank, how we miss him! Ever sincere, amiable, affectionate, gentle in manners and thoughtful of others, gave him a manliness that won its way into the hearts of all who knew him. A seemingly ordinary accident, one week of illness, and our dear little Frank is taken from us. While taking part in a game of "Bear," which Frank so thoroughly enjoyed, boy-like he pitted his strength against his captors and resisted their efforts to put him in the "Den." They were holding him by the left arm and did not dream they were hurting him - as not realizing it himself - he gave no sign. He carried out the afternoon's routine of work and after school went to the dentist's to fill an engagement. After reaching home he complained of his arm hurting and his mother treated it for rheumatism. The pain grew worse and he suffered all night, not thinking of the cause until at his father's inquiry to what he had been doing he remembered the game of "Bear." The family physician pronounced the hurt a very painful strain of the muscles and ligaments. Although it was intense suffering our little boy could have endured the pain had he been physically stronger. We did not realize Frank's condition until the accident brought to light that his heart was seriously affected. We are told that the disease would have developed sooner or later but it does not lessen our deep regret that the childish play should have so hurried it. It would have been just as hard to give him up later yet we wanted to keep him as long as possible. The funeral services were held at the family residence Wednesday at 3 o'clock p.m. March 20th and were conducted by Elder I.R. Hall, assisted by Revs. Peter Carnahan, D.C. Boggs and N.B. Fizer. The large attendance of sorrowing and sympathizing friends would have told the stranger how much Frank was loved. The casket, escorted by the pallbearers, Loyd Woods, Eugene Knott, Thurman Bohart, Ralph Mauck, Finney Blake and Frank Harris, and a host of friends was carried to its last resting place in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
