DUNCAN, Julia Ann HALL - Julia Ann Hall was born in Rutherford Co., Tenn. May 12, 1829 and died near Hiwasse, Benton Co., Ark. Aug. 25, 1913 in her 85th year. At the age of 23 she was united in marriage with P.L. Duncan. Ten children were born to this union, six of whom survive. In 1872 they came to Arkansas and settled on a homestead two miles west of the present town of Hiwasse and with hard work and frugality made for themselves a comfortable home. Since the death of her husband several years ago Mrs. Duncan made her home with her youngest son, Abner, on the old farm. She joined the Christian church early in life and lived a consistent Christian life and was highly esteemed by all her neighbors. She was laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. Pleasant cemetery where a large concourse of friends and neighbors met to pay their last tribute of respect to a dear friend and neighbor.

DUNCAN, Juda - {from Mt. Pleasant} Mrs. Juda Duncan, widow and aged resident of this section, died at the home of her son, Abner, Monday night, Aug. 25, 1913. Mrs. Duncan was one of the old and highly respected citizens of this section. She leaves five sons, James and Abner of this neighborhood; Dr. J.C. of Clarita, Okla.; Will of Idaho and R. of Stillwell; and one daughter, Mrs. John Callis of this vicinity. Mrs. Duncan was a member of the Christian church. The funeral was conducted Tuesday and burial was at Mt. Pleasant.
