{from Hiwasse} Elder James Holloway was buried at Mount Pleasant Saturday afternoon by the side of his companion who passed away a few years ago. Funeral services were in charge of Rev. Hayden, pastor of the South Methodist Church of Bentonville. Elder Holloway was born in Tennessee on September 13th, 1847 and when a small boy moved with his parents to Illinois. About 45 years ago the family moved to Benton County and settled near Hiwasse and lived many years on the farm now owned by Mrs. Payne. Elder Holloway was one of the pioneer preachers, having preached for 65 years. Many people have been helped by his preaching and by his beautiful songs, for he was a splendid singer and some of the most beautiful songs were composed by him. He had not been able to be out much for the past two years and had been cared for at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clara McAdams, at Centerton where he died on Friday, November 11th, 1932. Besides Mrs. McAdams he leaves two daughters, 24 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Elder Holloway had memorized much of the Bible and never used the Book when reading a Scripture lesson. He was proved to be known as an old-fashioned preacher and never accepted a salary for preaching. He was for many years pastor of the Free Will Baptist Church here. He will be remembered by the inmates of the county home for he had preached to them on Sunday afternoon for the past eight years until his health would no longer allow him to make the trip.
