To this union was born six children, of whom three are living, Will and Tom, and Ella Dutton, who were at his bedside with Mrs. Hammons when death came to relieve his intense suffering which he had borne with great patience since Aug. 6, 1931. He also leaves two brothers, Tom Hammons of McCurtain, Okla. and Will Hammons of Hindsville, Ark.; one sister, Mrs. D.B. Robinson of Burning Springs, Ky.; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.
