CROUSE, Calloway - Calloway Crouse, a resident of Benton County for 56 years, passed away at his home in the High Top vicinity Dec. 3, 1931 at the age of 77 years. He had enjoyed comparatively good health until the past two months. His twin brother, Joshua Crouse, died at Wagoner, Okla. less than two months ago. A few days after attending the funeral of his brother Mr. Crouse became ill and never recovered. Funeral services were held and burial made at Mt. Pleasant cemetery, the pastor of the Gravette M.E. Church conducting the services. A large number of old friends and many relatives were present. Calloway Crouse was born in North Carolina in 1854. He was the youngest son of Martin and Nancy Crouse who located in the vicinity of Hiwasse, or Dickson postoffice as it was then called, in 1872. He had lived in the community continuously since. In 1873 he married Treda Galyean to whom were born six children, five dying in infancy. His first wife died in the latter '80s. He married Lucy Rone of Osage Mills the second time. Their three children are Mrs. Hugh Duncan, Mrs. Near Holt and Mrs. Charles Crouse.

CROUSE, Lucy Jane RONE - Lucy Jane Rone, daughter of Mathew and Martha Rone, was born May 6th, 1863 in Ray county, Mo., died Nov. 7th, 1933 in Benton county, Ark. at the age of 70 years, 6 months and one day. She was of a family of nine children, four girls and five boys, all of whom preceded her in death, except one brother, Wilson Rone of Gentry, Ark. At the age of fifteen she professed faith in Christ and lived a consistent Christian life until her death. In the year 1891 she was married to Caloway Crouse and to this union three children were born: Mrs. Irene Holt of Gravette; Mrs. Verna Duncan, Mertaugh, Idaho; and Charlie of the home, all of whom survive. She was also a step-mother of one son whom she always cherished as her own. Eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild survive. Her husband died Dec. 3, 1931. She was a faithful and home loving wife, a devoted mother and a friend to all she met. Rev. O.M. Campbell of the Gravette Methodist church conducted the funeral at Mt. Pleasant where burial was made. Mrs. Lucy Rone Crouse, widow of Calloway Crouse, died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday morning at her home northwest of Centerton. She was about 60 years of age and was born in Benton County where she had spent nearly her entire life. Her husband passed away about three years ago. Funeral services will be held this afternoon with burial in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. She is survived by a brother, Wilson S. Rone of Springtown, a son, Charles Crouse of the home and by two daughters, Mrs. Rena Holt and Mrs. Verna Duncan of Idaho.
